  • One of the World’s Largest White Cement Manufacturers Shares Strategies for Cutting Clinker and Fossil Fuel at CarbonZero 2022

2030 is a crucial benchmark for the carbon neutrality journey: reducing the CO2 footprint while producing enough cement to meet demand will be challenging. Over 80% of the cement operation’s carbon emissions are released during clinker production. Also, the substitution of fossil fuel with carbon-neutral fuel is the key level to achieving the 2030 and 2050 targets. Strategies for replacing clinker and fossil fuels will be presented in detail by Rajnish Kapur, COO of JK Cement, the third-largest White Cement manufacturer globally, at CarbonZero: Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials 2022, on November 10-11, in Lisbon.

Since 2014, Mr. Kapur is heading the Grey Cement Business at JK Cement Limited. During this period, JK Cement has improved performance significantly and moved to 14.5 million tons capacity from 7.5 million tons in 2013.

Rajnish Kapur: “We at JKCement believe that a circular economy is critical for sustainable growth and climate action. The Creation of synergistic cooperation between all stakeholders that enables knowledge sharing is crucial to further collaborative innovation efforts in achieving a circular economy”.

Beatrice Ene, Managing Director of Industry Link: “The sustainability steps made by JK Cement can be inspiring to other manufacturers. To meet the company’s commitment globally, they have put in place the use of renewable energy and alternate fuels, improving clinker factor, reducing waste, and ultimately increasing input-output efficiencies. With a defined expansion roadmap and clear sustainability targets, We are glad to welcome Mr. Kapur to CarbonZero this November in Lisbon and together create a trustworthy forum to find the most suitable climate solutions.
