Margarita Talavera is the Global Sector Lead for Construction Materials at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), based in Washington, DC. Margarita has over 15 years working on the design, structuring and portfolio supervision of complex transactions across multiple sectors. As Global Sector Lead for Construction Materials, Margarita is responsible for the development and implementation of IFC’s strategy in the cement, steel and glass manufacturing sectors, with particular focus on scaling decarbonization solutions to support the sustainable development of these sectors in emerging markets.
Prior to joining IFC, Margarita was the Investment Promotion Director of ProNicaragua, Nicaragua’s Investment Promotion Agency, where she led the design and implementation of strategies for the attraction of foreign direct investment into the country. Margarita holds a Bachelor of Management with a minor in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and a Master of Business Administration from INCAE Business School.
