Italcementi looks to the future of building materials by choosing to move its executive offices from the Red Kilometer of Bergamo to the Milan metropolitan area and preparing to embrace the new global brand “Heidelberg Materials“.
Roberto Callieri, CEO of Italcement: “In an increasingly global world, an ambitious company must have the foresight to make important choices for its future, such as that of getting even closer to the most important economic center of our country and like that of adopting the new global brand of the Group, which is one of the major global players in our sector”.
The Milan area, thanks to its urban transformation and the growth of its infrastructural network, undoubtedly represents one of the most active realities in the field of the use of construction materials and one of the main poles for experimenting with new products and new solutions for which the Company is undoubtedly among the pioneers: just think of Palazzo Italia at Expo 2015, the Biblioteca degli Alberi or the very recent cycle path infrastructure of the Idroscalo, all works created with new generation materials developed by Italcementi.
The positive experience at Kilometro Rosso, which lasted ten years, is therefore about to end. The historical bond with Bergamo and its territory will remain firm, strengthened by 160 years of common history: a substantial part of the administrative structure will remain in the city center, while the research laboratories will be transferred to the cement plant in Calusco D’Adda, in the province of Bergamo, which remains one of the most important plants in the Italcementi production network together with that of Tavernola Bergamasca.
The location of the new headquarters will be announced in due time.
“We will use the next few months to carry out this transition in the best possible way and with serenity – concludes Callieri -. It is an important change, also from an emotional point of view, but it is certainly the best decision for our future”.
The current headquarters will be sold within the year to Brembo SpA, already present at the Kilometro Rosso.
