CarbonZero 2026 – Awards announcement

Call for Nominations: The CarbonZero 2026 Awards (awarded on October 28, Tangla Brussels Hotel)

The path to Net Zero is no longer a theoretical roadmap; it is being paved today by the visionaries, engineers, and strategists reshaping the backbone of global infrastructure.

As the construction and cement sectors face unprecedented pressure to decarbonize, the CarbonZero 2026 Awards arrive to spotlight the pioneers who are turning “green” targets into industrial reality. We are looking for the projects and people who aren’t just meeting standards—they’re setting them.

Why These Awards Matter

The “hard-to-abate” sector is undergoing its most significant transformation since the invention of the rotary kiln. We are moving beyond incremental changes toward a fundamental shift in how we build. These awards recognize excellence in:

Alternative Fuels: Transitioning from coal to waste-derived and biomass solutions.

Circular Raw Materials: Redefining “waste” as a resource for clinker substitution.

Low-Carbon Solutions: Scaling LC3, CCUS, and innovative binder technologies.

The 2026 Award Categories

1. CarbonZero Industrial Decarbonization Project of the Year

This category honors a specific, large-scale initiative that has demonstrated measurable impact. Whether it is a landmark carbon capture pilot, a successful transition to 100% alternative fuels, or a revolutionary circular economy partnership, this award recognizes technical ingenuity and operational success.

2. CarbonZero Decarbonization Leadership Award

Decarbonization requires more than technology; it requires courage. This award is dedicated to an individual or organizational leader who has championed sustainability at a systemic level. We are looking for the influencers who have steered their companies—and the industry—toward a lower-carbon future through policy, investment, and advocacy.
