Heidelberg Materials UK (HMUK) has expanded its recycling business by acquiring B&A Group, a leading construction soil and aggregate recycling company in southwest England. This acquisition enhances HMUK’s supply of high-quality recycled materials for sustainable building.

Based in Bristol, B&A Group employs 70 people and specializes in recycled and primary aggregate supply, site clearance, earthworks, land remediation, and sustainable land regeneration. In 2023, the company achieved record financial success, generating over £50 million in turnover and £9.1 million in pre-tax profit.

The acquisition underscores Heidelberg Materials’ commitment to achieving net zero by conserving natural resources and promoting a circular economy through recycling, reusing, and reducing primary raw materials.

Simon Willis, CEO of Heidelberg Materials UK, commented, “B&A Group is a successful business with an unrivalled reputation in the southwest, underpinned by a strong team. This acquisition adds a valuable source of high-quality recycled materials for our sustainable building materials. It is an exciting opportunity, and I look forward to working with the B&A Group to further grow the business.”

B&A Group will be integrated into Heidelberg Materials’ recycling business line, led by Recycling Managing Director James Whitelaw.
