CEMBUREAU, the European Cement Association, is set to host a pivotal webinar titled “Scaling up our net zero ambition: CEMBUREAU’s roadmap update” on Tuesday, May 21st, from 14:00 to 15:30 CET. This event is organized to launch the association’s updated 2050 Net Zero Roadmap, marking significant advancements in the cement industry’s commitment to decarbonization.
Since the initial publication of its carbon neutrality roadmap in 2020, CEMBUREAU has re-evaluated its strategies in response to the EU’s ambitious decarbonization goals. The updated roadmap not only revisits the targets for 2030 and 2050 but also introduces an interim decarbonization objective for 2040. The session will explore the enhanced strategies and the necessary policy frameworks that support achieving these objectives.
During the webinar, attendees will gain insights into the key decarbonization levers essential for transforming the cement and concrete value chain. Discussions will also cover the critical role of both EU and national policies in supporting technological deployment and scaling efforts needed for the industry’s transformation. Moreover, the importance of cooperation across the value chain to reach these goals will be a focus.
Speakers at the webinar include Koen Coppenholle, CEO of CEMBUREAU; Rob van der Meer, Industrial Policy Director at CEMBUREAU; and Alexandre Paquot, Director of Innovation for Low Carbon, Resilient Economy at DG Clima, European Commission.
