In a significant development for sustainable construction, Carbon8 and Mannok Cement Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, marking the beginning of a promising collaboration. Last week, the Carbon8 team visited Mannok’s facility in Derrylin, Ireland, to discuss the integration of Carbon8’s cutting-edge CCUS technology into Mannok’s operations.
The partnership aims to leverage Carbon8’s patented technology to capture CO₂ emissions at the Mannok cement plant. This initiative is not just about carbon capture; it transforms by-products from cement production into carbon-negative materials. These materials will subsequently be used in creating construction products, potentially turning the built environment into a major carbon sink.
The discussions are part of a broader strategy under Mannok’s Emissions Reduction Roadmap, with plans to begin implementation as early as 2025. This collaboration could set a new standard for the industry, aligning with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change.
