
Dr. Christine Lemaitre, born in Giessen in 1975, studied civil engineering at the University of Stuttgart from 1995 to 2000 and then worked as a structural engineer in the USA. From 2003 to 2007 she worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Lightweight Structures and Construction (ILEK) at the University of Stuttgart. From 2007, she headed the research project “Resource-Efficient Buildings” at Bilfinger Berger AG. In 2008 she received her doctorate on the topic of “Topology optimization of adaptive beams”. Lemaitre has been working for the DGNB since January 2009, initially as Head of the Systems department, and since February 2010 as Chief executive officer. From 2015 to 2019, she was Chair of the European Regional Network (ERN) of the World Green Building Council (WGBC), of which she was a board member from 2016 to 2020. Currently, Lemaitre is Chair of the Climate Positive Europe Alliance (CPEA) network and the Board of Directors of the Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation Institute; She is also a member of the Advisory board Baukultur of the State of Baden-Württemberg and the Sustainability Council of the German Property Federation (ZIA). After co-founding the international planning initiative “Building Sense Now” in 2017, she launched the Knowledge Foundation in 2021, which she has chaired ever since. In 2019, she was awarded the W.I.R.E. Award 2019 (Women in Real Estate) by Heuer Dialog GmbH and the Eco Innovator Award 2019 by the Global Green Economic Forum for her numerous achievements.
