Carlos Roberto Escobar is an accomplished environmental management professional with over three decades of experience in sustainability and waste management within the cement industry. He holds a Master of Science in Environmental Management and Technology from Oxford Brookes University in the United Kingdom (2004) and an MBA from Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas (UCA) in El Salvador (1998). He also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from UCA in 1993.
Throughout his career, Carlos has demonstrated expertise in environmental sustainability, particularly in managing waste and alternative resources. Since 2015, he has served as the Manager of Proverde, the Waste Management and Alternative Resources Unit at Cementos Progreso in Guatemala. Prior to this, he was an Environmental and Sustainability Management Consultant for the SalvaNATURA Foundation in El Salvador from 2011 to 2015, and held various managerial and technical roles at Holcim El Salvador and Cemento de El Salvador, focusing on environmental coordination, alternative fuels, and materials.
Carlos is also committed to education, having lectured at Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas (UCA) and Universidad de El Salvador on topics such as emission control, environmental engineering, and environmental impact assessment. His ongoing contribution to industry associations includes his role as a Trustee for the Guild of Recyclers, Environmental Products, and Services of Guatemala since 2023.
Carlos continues to enhance his knowledge with additional qualifications, including a Diploma in Circular Economy and Sustainability from Cambridge University (2022) and a Diploma in Energy Efficiency in Buildings from UCA (2010). His extensive experience and dedication make him a leading figure in sustainable practices and environmental management in Latin America.
