For the second time, Klöckner & Co SE has received the prestigious German Sustainability Award (DNP), securing the DNP Company Award in the Chemicals and Materials Wholesale sector. Recognized as a “beacon” of transformation by the DNP jury, Klöckner & Co stands out for its pioneering role in driving sustainable practices within the steel and metals industry. The award underscores Klöckner’s commitment to advancing a low-carbon future through its Nexigen® brand, which encompasses innovative CO2-reduced materials, services, and logistics solutions designed to support sustainable supply chains.

Our commitment to innovation and responsible practices sets the foundation for a sustainable future in steel.”

The German Sustainability Award, considered Europe’s most prominent ecological and social accolade, honors key contributors from industry, research, and civil society. This year, Klöckner & Co’s sustainability team, led by Kerkhoff, will accept the award at the German Sustainability Day in Düsseldorf, a ceremony organized by the Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V. in partnership with the German government and research institutions.

A leader in sustainable steel development, Klöckner & Co has made significant strides toward decarbonization. Its Nexigen® offerings include CO2-reduced steel products, the Nexigen® PCF Algorithm, which calculates the product carbon footprint across its extensive catalog, and Nexigen® Data Services, which provide recommendations for more eco-friendly alternatives. Klöckner & Co’s ambitious sustainability goals also align with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050.
