Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport has begun a comprehensive national study aimed at upgrading the quality standards for cement used in road construction, as the country seeks to improve the durability and resilience of its transport infrastructure.
The assessment, led by the KazdorNII research institute, will analyse cement produced by 11 domestic plants to develop a new, climate‑adapted “Road Cement” standard. The project is being carried out in partnership with KazAutoZhol and local manufacturers, with a focus on strengthening requirements for frost resistance, structural performance, and long‑term durability in concrete highways.
Sampling and laboratory testing are already underway across multiple regions to ensure an objective evaluation of both the chemical composition and physical properties of the materials.
According to the Ministry, the initiative is designed to modernise construction practices, reinforce regulatory frameworks, and extend the lifespan of Kazakhstan’s national road network. Additional details on the programme are available through the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.
