Dr. Mohammed Fouad is a transformational industry leader with over 24 years of experience driving innovation and operational excellence across the cement and manufacturing sectors. Currently serving as the Business Excellence Director at Riyadh Cement Company, he is known for aligning sustainability, digital transformation, and strategic vision. His leadership journey spans multinational giants like Lafarge-Holcim and CIMPOR, where he led high-impact projects across the Middle East and Africa. Dr. Fouad holds a DBA, an MBA in Global Management, and a post-graduation and BSc in Chemical Engineering. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and a recognized trainer in industrial performance, strategy, and leadership. A trusted advisor to executive boards, he champions data-driven decision-making, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement. Dr. Fouad is also a lecturer, mentor, and member of academic advisory boards, empowering the next generation of leaders in Industry 4.0 and sustainability.

 

Financing decarbonization in hard to abate sectors: Role of transition finance within sustainable finance

Sourajit Aiyer, Sustainable Finance Technical Expert, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Egypt

The session would cover the sustainable finance mechanisms that are coming up to address decarbonisation in HTA sectors like cement, how these finance mechanisms are being structured, examples from the industry, potential challenges and ways to counter these challenges.

Currently working as a Sustainable Finance Technical Expert with GIZ. Prior to this, worked with auctusESG, Motilal Oswal Financial Services, UBS Bank London, Grameen Capital, UNEP’s Sustainable India Finance Facility & independent projects. Worked across conventional financial services and subsequently in sustainable finance and climate risks. Authored 3 books on Asian regional economies and published ~170 articles on sustainability, business and finance issues, including in publications like World Economic Forum, etc. Delivered 15+ guest-lectures across Asian universities and has been invited as speaker in 20+ industry conferences and forums across emerging markets, including a TEDx talk in the UK. Cleared exam-based certifications in ESG, sustainable finance and climate risks.
