Competitive energy for EU industry: harnessing renewables, electrification and flexibility will be presented by Mihai Tomescu, Expert on energy and Environment, the European Environment Agency (EEA) at the upcoming CarbonZero Global Conference and Exhibition 2025 (October 15-16, Intercontinental Athenee Palace Hotel, Bucharest, Romania).

The EEA report Renewables, electrification and flexibility – for a competitive EU energy system transformation by 2030 (June, 2025) assesses opportunities and challenges to decarbonise the EU energy system, including complex energy demand from the EU industry. This keynote puts together detailed historic energy and greenhouse gas emission trends for EU economic sectors, including industry and buildings, and outlines strategies to meet key decarbonisation benchmarks for 2030 and beyond.

Mihai will join the ‘Navigating the Path to Carbon Neutrality: Policy, Standards, and Market Dynamics’ panel session.
