Circularity of Concrete – A WorldGBC and Circular Buildings Coalition Perspective will be presented by Dr. Carolina Montano Owen, the Technical Lead for Sustainable Buildings at World Green Building Council (WorldGBC), at the upcoming Cementitious Materials International Congress Americas (April 2-3, Kimpton Sylvan Hotel, Atlanta, USA).

Owing to its durability and versatility, concrete is one of the most widely used construction materials around the world. Yet its value is significantly reduced after the first use, as downcycling is the most common recovery practice.
By implementing the circular approach to concrete, we can change that, increasing its value whilst creating more sustainable, profitable and resource efficient products and buildings. Through successful case studies and dynamic discussion from industry leaders across circularity, this session will explore the case for going full circle on concrete – and how we can scale up the solutions which are already in action across the European market today.
Carolina leads on the WorldGBC Circularity project, which is part of the Circular Buildings Coalition, an initiative from World Green Building Council (WorldGBC), Metabolic, Circular Economy Foundation, WBCSD, the Ellen Macarthur foundation and Arup, with the support of Smith Innovation and Laudes Foundation.
She will also be speaking about her journey as a woman leader in the sector at the Women in Cement and Construction Congress Americas held on April 3-4 at the same venue as the Cementitious Materials Congress, Kimpton Sylvan Hotel.
Other speakers for the Cementitious Congress include:
- Scott Dickson, President, Southeast Region, Heidelberg Materials
