The 2026 edition of Sustainability and ESG International Summit (June 10-11, World Trade Center, São Paulo, Brazil) is the premier regional platform for accelerating the transition toward Net Zero construction and a circular economy. Following successful editions in Madeira (2024) and Cairo (2025), this summit bridges the gap between high-level ESG goals and the technical execution of deep decarbonization.
Building Resilience: Climate Action Strategic Pathways in Cement and Construction presented by Carla Leal – CDP Market Director for LATAM | Board Member
The cement and construction sector plays a critical role in the global transition to a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy. As one of the most emissions-intensive industries worldwide, it faces increasing pressure from regulators, investors, and society to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while strengthening resilience to climate-related risks.
This presentation will explore how climate change mitigation and adaptation can be strategically integrated into business decision-making across the cement and construction value chain. Drawing on CDP data and insights, the session will highlight key emission reduction levers, the importance of science-based targets, and the role of transparent disclosure in driving performance and accountability. It will also address physical climate risks, adaptation strategies, and the growing relevance of climate resilience for assets, supply chains, and long-term competitiveness. The talk aims to support companies in understanding how robust climate strategies can unlock opportunities, manage risks, and contribute to building a sustainable and resilient built environment.
