Climate Governance in Brazil: carbon markets and adaptation strategies

Brazil is no longer just a participant in the global climate conversation—it is becoming its epicenter. As the nation sits at the intersection of immense transition risks and unparalleled natural capital, the landscape for leadership is shifting beneath our feet.

The 2026 edition of Sustainability and ESG International Summit (June 10-11, World Trade Center, São Paulo, Brazil) announces Ana Luci Grizzi Sr. Consultant & Coordinator of the Sustainability and Innovation Committee, Votorantim Cimentos to present Climate Governance in Brazil: carbon markets and adaptation strategies.

Brazil occupies a pivotal position in the global climate agenda, combining significant transition risks with unique opportunities linked to its natural capital and emerging carbon markets. This session explores how climate governance in Brazil is evolving in response to regulatory signals, capital market expectations, and increasing climate impacts.

The presentation will examine the role of carbon markets as a strategic tool for financing the transition, alongside the growing importance of adaptation strategies to address physical risks, protect value chains, and enhance resilience. It will also discuss what boards and senior executives need to consider to integrate climate and nature-related risks and opportunities into governance, strategy, and capital allocation.

The session offers practical insights for decision-makers navigating climate governance in Brazil’s rapidly changing regulatory and market landscape.
