The Regional Directorate of the Environment and the Sea is a central executive service of the direct administration of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, integrated into the Regional Secretariat of the Agriculture, Fisheries, and the Environment. The mission of the Regional Directorate is to implement the regional policy in the areas of administration, management and regulation of environmental quality and the circular economy, water resources, the coastline, sustainability and climate action, and the sea and blue economy, contributing to sustainable economic and social development that is articulated between the various sectoral policies. The Regional Directorate is responsible for implementing the regional circular economy and waste policy in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
