The cement manufacturing process is highly intensive in heat consumption and carbon emissions. Stakeholders are increasing pressure to decarbonize not only the cement industry but the construction industry, too. But how we can achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 by implementing actual and effective solutions? Edgar Martinez, Sustainability Senior Director at Cementos Argos will approach this topic at CarbonZero Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials Global Conference and Exhibition on November 10-11 in Lisbon.
Edgar Martinez, Sustainability Senior Director at Cementos Argos, is a Colombian engineer holding a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering and a Master in Materials’ Science, among other studies. During his 20 years of experience in the cement industry he has been part of different areas of the company successfully leading projects in the environmental area, research and development as well as managing the operations in the Lesser Antilles. In addition to the company’s role, he is part of different committees in GCCA, ACI, ASTM, and PCA. Currently, he is responsible with his team-leading the carbon neutrality strategy of the company.
