The Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation (FNRC) has signed an agreement with JSW Cement to establish and operate a new cement grinding unit in Al Tawyeen, marking a significant expansion of the emirate’s industrial capabilities. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 1.65 million tonnes, positioning Fujairah as a growing regional hub for building materials manufacturing.
According to FNRC, the project will be implemented over approximately 15 months and will include a dedicated production line for ordinary Portland cement, along with supporting utilities and infrastructure. The initiative is expected to strengthen the UAE’s building materials sector, enhance production capacity and attract further industrial investment to the emirate.
The agreement aligns with Fujairah’s broader strategy to maximise the use of natural resources and expand development projects across the industrial landscape. It reflects the vision of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, and the continued support of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, to advance sustainable economic growth.
Engineer Ali Qasim, Director General of FNRC, said the contract represents an important step in supporting high‑value industrial projects that contribute to the local economy while adhering to environmental and technical best practices. He noted that the expansion will enhance production capabilities and reinforce the building materials market in both the UAE and the wider region.
JSW Cement stated that the new grinding unit will help meet rising market demand and improve production efficiency through the use of locally sourced clinker.
The project comes amid increasing demand for cement across the UAE and GCC countries, driven by rapid urban development and large‑scale infrastructure projects. FNRC said the expansion will also improve supply chain efficiency and support the long‑term sustainability of the building materials sector.
By strengthening Fujairah’s position as an attractive destination for industrial and mining investments, the project is expected to contribute to the emirate’s competitiveness and support sustainable economic development at both local and regional levels.
